2. No preference to race
3. No supplement use in >6 months
Ad libitum fluid intake following dehydration protocol was 1.60±0.57 for Water and 1.88±0.72 L for SF-ORS.
At the end of the 4-hour rehydration period, net fluid balance was significantly greater for Liquid I.V. SF (0.8 ± 0.7%) relative to water (0.2 ± 0.8%) (P < 0.05).
At the 2-, 3- and 4-hour timepoints during the rehydration period, plasma volume restoration was significantly greater in the Liquid I.V. SF group, relative to water (P < 0.05).
During the rehydration period, plasma osmolality was significantly greater in the Liquid I.V. SF group, relative to water (P < 0.05).
Importantly, there were no observed changes in plasma glucose levels (P = ns).
