Intervention: Nutrafol Men or placebo. Participants (n = 85; 52 active, 33 placebo) took 4 capsules once daily with food for 180 days; visits at baseline, Day 90 and Day 180 included standardized scalp photography, blinded investigator global ratings (growth, quality), Men’s Hair Growth Questionnaire responses, Arizona Sexual Experience Scale (sexual function) and safety monitoring.

Ratings for hair growth via blinded global investigator assessment were significantly improved in the Nutrafol Men group, relative to placebo. The proportion of subjects rated as improved was 57% at Day 90, and 79% at Day 180 (P<0.01 at Day 180 relative to placebo). For the placebo group, 48% and 51% were improved at Day 90 and Day 180, respectively.
Ratings for hair quality via blinded global investigator assessment were statistically improved in the Nutrafol Men group, relative to placebo. The proportion of subjects rated as improved was 61% at Day 90, and 74% at Day 180 (P<0.05 at Day 180 relative to placebo). For the placebo group, 54% were improved at Day 90 and 54% at Day 180.
Men’s Hair Growth Questionnaire outcomes:
A. For the statement ‘Since the start of the study, how effective do you think the treatment has been in slowing down your hair loss?’ - 85% of participants in the Nutrafol Men group responded positively vs. 55% in the placebo group (P<0.05).
B. For the statement ‘Compared to the start of the study, which statement best describes your satisfaction with the appearance of the hair on top of your head?’ - 46% of participants in the Nutrafol Men group responded positively vs. 24% in the placebo group (P<0.05).
Additional insight: No changes in sexual function were identified in the Nutrafol Men or placebo groups, according to the Arizona Sexual Experience Scale.
